I always thought that making these would get easier and easier over time, but I was shocked how long this took to create. The biggest hurdle was dealing with the unusually high amount of ballads and slow songs. While I've featured lots of these types of songs in the past, there was seemingly an endless amount of really great ones this year that I couldn't simply just sprinkle throughout like in mixes past.

So it took me awhile to create a playlist that one could listen to in one complete session and not feel fatigued. This was difficult when listening on work, in the car, and on the way home in traffic. My mood changed constantly and creating a song order that caterd to all three situations caused a lot of tweaking.

One thing working in my favor was not having to create 3 mini playlists within the mix. After years of having to make a large play mix on multiple cds, it required not only a solid flow between discs but also if you listen to a single disc on repeat. So without having to create a beginning, middle, and end across 3 discs and each seperately, I had a lot more freedom to make a more fluid experience. Its still there if you listen hard enough, but it has a lot better ebb and flow in opinion. Hopefully you agree.
